Small Kindling for a New Flame - Erica and Judith

Judith walks off the ferry to meet her daughter Erica at the terminal. As discussed, Erica is child free and driving she and her mother to a dinner of their own. The two woman embrace as Judith approaches and then Judith steps back and bounces the bottom of Erica’s new haircut on the flat of her hand. Erica looks like a younger version of her mothering many ways except for the very pronounced map of freckles splashed across her face. Those are from her father’s side and skipped a generation even. She has chestnut brown hair in a curled under bob and is wearing a black v-neck t shirt, a light grey cardigan and skinny grey jeans with little black ballet flats. Judith is wearing her brown knee high lace up boots over brown leggings and a light green sweater dress with a pretty scarf.

“Back to the short. I like it.”

Erica rolls her eyes and smiles looking at her mother’s own similar haircut “You may be a little biased, but thanks. New job, new cut.” The smile fades instantly at the words new job.

Judith catches the facial expression and makes a note to come back to the job topic over dinner. “What are you hungry for Erica? I was thinking Thai food myself.”

Erica smiles “You always know where to go. Just plug the address into my Google map app. It’s nice to go out on our own. Haven’t done this in a long time.” She unlocks her phone and hands it over to her mother.

Judith smiles and nods as she keys in the restaurant name “Too long. This one’s called Leela and its right in White Rock. Untested by me so there’s the disclaimer.”

Erica wiggles her eyebrows “Fooding with the foodie. Come on hop in and we’ll see if it measures up.”

It’s a short drive and a short wait to a table and the two women are seated with menus and pouring over them.

Judith runs her finger slowly through one section as she squints a little at the menu. The lighting is terribly dim. “You guys are still doing the gluten free thing right?”

Erica inhales audibly with irritation “It’s not a thing, it’s an intolerance.”

Judith looks up kindly “Alright, you know your body. Have you seen a doctor about it?”

Erica folds her arms and looks squarely at her mother “I went to a naturopathic doctor. Have YOU seen a doctor recently?”

Judith smiles wryly “Point taken. I just worry about you honey.”

“I’m fine mom. And Thai works well for gluten free. They have lots of rice noodles. We should get Pad Thai in the mix.”

It dawns on Judith that Erica knows her buttons and is carefully steering her back to food to cease the medical conversation but she does love food and complies “Pad Thai is always the benchmark for a good Thai place, so yes. And some of those summer rolls with the peanut sauce…..and a curry…..my vote is green.”

Erica finds the green curry on the menu and notices her mother squinting again “Did you forget your glasses Mom?” She teases and then reads “The options are tofu, chicken and prawn.”

Judith huffs but smiles “They make me look like such an old lady. And I’m assuming tofu with the Pad Thai so let’s do prawn…..mmm you know what, chicken.”

Erica shrugs “Either is fine with me. But I’m amazed you’d choose anything over seafood.”

Judith looks neither here nor there about it “I’ve had a lot of seafood lately so chicken tonight.”

The waitress is very on the ball and is at their table almost as soon as the menus close, taking the order and pouring them jasmine tea in tiny mugs. She leaves the short metal pot on the table.

Erica looks at her mother curiously “Had a lot as opposed to made a lot? Does that mean you’re getting out more?”

Judith resists the urge to blurt out everything at once about why and says “Yes. Yes I have been. And it’s been very nice.”

Erica nods “Well good for you. Are you going to Mexico with Connie again this year?”

Judith shakes her head “Well we haven’t talked about it. I did love it though. I’m not sure what I’m doing with my spring break week. It’s kind of why I wanted to talk to you alone.”

Erica holds up a hand “Mom, I can see where you’re going with this, but there’s no way in hell I can get time off that fast for a trip. In fact I was going to beg you to take Maisy again because that damned daycare closes for the week because it’s in the school. I can sign Penny up for another riding camp though and she’ll love it. Jeff might get one or two days off then but certainly not all five.”

Judith smiles and sighs “I wasn’t asking you all to take a trip with me. And I’m glad it won’t be all five days, as much as I love having Maisy. You know I’ll help. Erica, I’ve met someone.”

Erica blinked hard over her tiny cup of tea and then sputtered “You….mean…a man, like romantically?”

Judith chuckles “Yes, a man, like romantically. His name is Hank Stanley and we met online. Connie talked me into one of those sites.”

Erica set her tea down and rotated it on the table between her pointer finger and thumb. She looked stressed out by the whole idea “How long has this been going on?”

Judith saw her daughter’s reaction and looked dismayed, but explained “Not very long. We started messaging just after New Years. I know it’s crazy, but we just clicked. He’s wonderful and kind Erica, and funny. I’d really like you to meet him.”

Erica took another sip of her tea and looked away and out the window “Since New Years? Well you can’t have been out that many times? Mom, I don’t want to put a damper on your excitement about dating again but maybe wait it out before introducing the family. That’s not even a month.”

Judith sighs “I know the timing. Our connection has been very intense for the amount of time it’s been. His work schedule is odd. He’s a fire Department Chief so he gets bits of time off in shorter spurts. We make the most of it….I can’t explain why but from the moment I met Hank, it was just instant chemistry.”

Erica’s eyebrows go up “Make the MOST of it? Instant chemistry? Mom….you haven’t….” She starts to ask anxiously but the waitress comes back with the summer rolls and she stops herself.

Both women are completely gracious to the waitress, betraying none of the tension between them at all.

Judith does finish her daughter’s question right after she leaves “Slept with him? Yes I have. I didn’t plan on it happening fast like that, but it felt right and he’s wonderful that way too. He didn’t use me and leave me either so it’s not like that. We care about each other a lot Erica.”

Erica rolls her eyes “Well he’s not going to leave if he’s still getting some. Please tell me you used condoms. Sex has changed Mom. It’s scary out there.”

Judith looks annoyed now “He’s not just with me for THAT. And not that those details are any of your business, but we’re both clean. We even took an HIV test on our first date.”

“On your FIRST DATE? What the hell kind of a date was your first date? Did Connie sign you up for Tinder? Was it just a hook up?” Erica looks incredulously at her mother.

Judith’s jaw tenses “It was not Tinder…or a” She does quotes in the air as she repeats back “a hook up” and then drops her hands to her lap and leans forward “We met on the ferry and went for dinner and then spent intimate time together because we just felt that connected. I know it’s a lot to take in and not what you’re used to from me, but I need you to keep an open mind. Please.”

Erica leans back, folds her arms and looks up like she’s seeking some sort of divine intervention. Then she snaps her gaze back to her mother “When I met Jeff, if I had said we met and slept together the same day, you would have been terrified for me. Please understand my perspective. I don’t want to deny you happiness. I just don’t want to see you get hurt. I’ve seen enough of you in pain for one lifetime Mom.”

Judith softens “I know honey, I know. Hank is also a widower. He’s been through a lot himself and I feel nothing but support and adoration coming from him about what I’ve gone through. He has three grandchildren who he loves to bits. He’s not just some guy from the internet.”

The food arrives and the waitress looks at the untouched summer rolls in confusion “Is everything OK?” She asks as she sets down the other dishes.

Erica awkwardly nods “Yes, sorry. We were distracted by conversation.” She takes a summer roll to her plate and some peanut sauce and then passes them to her mother for her to do the same.

Judith smiles apologetically “I’m sure they’re lovely. Everything smells wonderful. Thank you so much.”

The waitress goes and they silently plate up their shared food and eat a bit, unsure where to begin the conversation again until Judith decides to take a break from the tense topic and ask about something else “So how’s the new job?”

Erica puts down her fork and bursts into tears unexpectedly “I hate it. I absolutely hate it there.”

Judith looks concerned and reaches across the table to take Erica’s hand “Oh honey…”

Erica continues to talk through her sobs but they calm as she goes “The staff is gossipy and backstabbing and competitive. I feel like they hate me as their new hotel manager and they’re rebelling against me. The restaurant manager takes bookings and doesn’t tell me so we’ve had two scheduling catastrophes that I ended up taking the blame for. The home daycare was a relief to give up but I would give anything to go back to it now…maybe that’s not true. I wanted conversation with adults. I wanted to problem solve about more than sippy cups and fights over toys. I guess I am, and these overgrown children just have more colourful language. And I miss working with Jeff. I should never have let that post go. I mean he doesn’t love it where he is either but he also doesn’t hate it. I don’t know what to do now Mom.” She lets go of her mother’s hand and blows her nose in her napkin and then wipes her face and takes a bit of food “This isn’t bad Pad Thai…” She laughs about her outburst “Sorry…”

Judith shakes her head “Don’t be. You shouldn’t keep all that in. My god.” She takes a bit of Pad Thai as well to confirm or deny and nods slowly “Mmm….yes not bad.” She has a critical tone about it but this is not the time “Erica, keep your head down and scan the job postings. Don’t stay in misery.”

Erica takes a cleansing sip of tea “I was out of the field for years though, inconsistently back in after Penny and then out again. I feel like I need to reference from this place if I can stand it long enough to get one. I mean it’s the Waterfront right?”

Judith snorts “Yes it has a good name for anyone who doesn’t know what it’s like to work for them. What about some of the hotels in smaller areas. There’s that Mariner’s chain. I stay with them in Alexandra. The staff seems very happy and relaxed and…consistent. Not a lot of turnover is a sign of a happy work place. Incidentally, Hank lives in Alexandra.”

Erica nods about the consistency “Yeah. He’s the Fire Chief in Great Aunt Martha’s town? Oh shit…” She actually cracks her first smile in relation to Hank “And he still wanted to go out with you?”

Judith laughs “Yes! See? He is a good man. And they all adore Martha there. Apparently she flirts with all the men in the town, especially the uniformed ones.”

Erica laughs now “Go Martha!” And then she gets serious again “Mom, I’m sure he’s nice. I’m just not ready to see you with anyone who’s not…I know it’s been seven years….” She trails off looking out the window.

Judith looks kindly at her daughter “Dad? I know. No one can replace him honey. I don’t want Hank to and he doesn’t want that either. He gets it. When you’re ready, I’d love for you to meet him. But I won’t push you OK? I love you.”

Erica blinks, trying not to cry again, in a restaurant and nods with a quiet “Thank you. I love you too.”

Girls, Gams and a Good Gab - Philomena, Rose and Judith

Philomena Kenner comes and sits after placing her order its noon and all ready she is wearing down " Rose I am so Glad The kid is away at grandmas till we get the Mayors House ready Mayor Cisero just let the place go to hell over the years. and i need to check for any lead paint and stuff.

Doctor Song " he was a total hermit hoarder type I have often wonder how many people are under the foundation."

Judith Baldwin walks through the doors looking thankful for her break. She recognizes the purple hair and says "Hi Rose." And smiles kindly to the woman she has not met "Good afternoon, almost..." She laughs a little "Going to see if they have any good muffins. May I join you ladies after?"

 Philomena Kenner: Oh Hello , I'm Philomena Kenner Mayor Kenner's wife Grab a Muffin and come sit with us."

Doctor Song Hey Judith Muffins are fresh and warm come and sit with us.

Judith beams "Oh house nice to meet you finally Philomena." She smirks at them both and says sideways with her hand beside her cheek "I did vote for him you know." She heads to the counter to order food.

Doctor Song Don't have the Little Princess today? she was the cutest little thing .

Judith returns with her coffee and muffin after paying "You're welcome. And no Maisy today." She sits down and explains to Philomena "I'm Judith. I teach at the school. Maisy is my two year old granddaughter. I'll get her again on a break as their daycare has closures with the school breaks, and probably a weekend soon too. She has a six year old sister too...but our Penny's a busy girl now. It's all horses all the time."

Philomena Kenner " ah 6 year olds and Horses My Oldest Trevor was all about Horses too at that age Now he's all about video games."

Doctor Song Ah I met Little Luther but not Trevor, He in Boarding school back in England with Trevon's Dad?" Rose sighs " I just have my twin niece and nephew I didn't get to see them as babies in a weird way I miss that.".

 Judith Baldwin beams "Oh all the ages are fun Rose. What part of England are you folks from Philomena?" She sips at her coffee now.

Philomena Kenner Oh My Family's From here in Theta Originally from Montego Bay Jamaica But Mom moved here when she was recording in Vancouver , , Now Trevon's mom Lives here in Vancouver but his dad is In Chester England and has an accountancy there. That's where father and son are being schooled at the coal Hill academy. "

Doctor Song sips her coffee and then states" I cant have any biological kids due to some issues i have medically but some days when i look at all the wee ones i think oh i would so love to have one to care for ."

Judith Baldwin smiles at Philomena "Well that sounds lovely, but you must miss your boy." She turns her gaze to Rose "Perhaps you'll get some grandchildren to dote on when they're small. I'd say it's almost more fun.....and you can hand them back when they pitch a  fit."

Philomena Kenner " You can borrow mine ," don't get me wrong I miss them daily But with my oldest needing a disciplined environment and the house not being ready yet I figure its better for them to Party with grandparents than sleep in a guest room at the lodge." "and Rose Honey You just need to get a B.O.B.. or teach that boyfriend of yours how to take care of you and your "ISSUES"."

Doctor Song "What! huh ?" she turns beet red at the mention of adult stuff." Ok Just because I don't make out in public don't mean... Ok Ok sighs sex hurts me ."

Judith Baldwin looks delighted by Philomena "You remind me of my friend Connie." She laughs "In a good way." She looks sympathetically at Rose "I know I don't know you very well....but there are some products that could help you...unless it's like a need to see a doctor type issue? Hopefully this boyfriend you have is kind and patient."

Philomena Kenner " Well girl Kids don't grow on trees you want rugrats you gotta do the horizontal mambo. I hear the place in Alexandra does mail order and they have a de-sensitizing gel you might try that if things are painful, Or is it the OTHER kinda Painful cause if it is talking can help . and you got me to talk to."

Doctor Song starts to cry and catches herself. It happened a long time ago . , sorry Judith, I didn't mean to tell you my life story. But Phil's right i need to get it out and resolved. I'm really In love with Leo , Elektra Matsouka's dad but lately he seems distant. because i wont go to third base. "

 Judith Baldwin has nothing but kindness for this woman's pain "No it's OK. Don't be alone with this. If Leo's a good man, maybe he's afraid to push you before you're ready. And there's no harm in taking as long as you need." She frowns and eats a bit of her muffin. The world was cruel to nice people sometimes and it wasn't fair. She looks at Philomena, glad Rose has such a good friend.

Philomena Kenner So Your a 54 Year old Virgin," ? "gawd Girl I so hope not."

Doctor Song " oh heck no just since the bombing and the shrapnel scars on my legs and lower bits I just can't let anyone see that Its so ugly and red."

Judith Baldwin sighs "Rose, love makes people see you as a whole person, a beautiful person, despite all that. I've.....well I've fallen madly in love with a man who has some very extreme scarring from burns. He's a fireman. But I don't see the burns...well I do but how to say it. I see the burns but not as something to turn away from, but as just part of Hank. Does this Leo say he loves you?"

Philomena Kenner When I first got with Trevon It was awkward but then all he had to do was look into my eyes and say the 3 magic words and then it was wonderful."

Doctor Song " I'm Just scared that he will freak out When the bomb went off when i was in Kosovo i was 2 to 4 months Pregnant and very much in love with one of my Brothers in arms . I lost him and Lost the baby when the shock wave threw me into the wall divider. it saved my life but also took it away."

Judith Baldwin's heart goes out to Rose even more than before  "That is a huge horrible load to work through dear. Does Leo know?" She looks between Rose and Philomena.

Philomena Kenner " As for Leo Loving You, Girlfriend You know he does its all I ever here Him talk to Trevon about You really should just show and tell Rose, He loves you don't be surprised if he pops thee question. "

Doctor Song " He tells me i am special and important to him, maybe he said he loves me i get frightened . but i guess if i loved him i must show him i just hope he don't back away."

Judith Baldwin smiles warmly "Talk first. Tell him your fears.  And don't feel like you have to do anything. If you love each other, that will happen when it's the right time for both of you.....not to natter.....just be kind to yourself Rose."

 Philomena Kenner Yeah What she said Listen I got an Idea when we get the Mayors House repaired lets have a house party invite you ,Leo and Judith here and her guy ." and maybe you can wear a shorter gown that hints at the scars a little and see his reaction and this way we all can be there for support. if you want"

Doctor Song Ok but fair warning they are not attractive. and the scars make my legs look plastic and hairless. nice for shaving but um well yes that is half hairless."

 Judith Baldwin can't help but giggle "How short are you suggesting Philomena? Putting your dear friend on the spot. I would happily come to a party and get to know you all better. Hank has an odd work schedule so I'll have to see if he's free. And Rose, our bodies are what they are. Love yourself. I'm glad, despite the horrors, that you survived it all."

Philomena Kenner I wanna put her in a Starfleet short mini skirt from the original series , " she laughs" But i know you would not go there rose so i purpose a inch below the knee model. kinda play peek a boo with it. and you know i am a former model so yeah we can fix the look of the scars."

Doctor Song cries a little Thank you both I just hope Leo with stick with me, I love him a lot , My kids love him and Bat is just like my twins sibling . now a days , she even spends the night so much we gave her her own room."

Judith Baldwin giggles at Philomena "Well that would get a man's attention for sure." She gestures down at her own skirt "I'm still a fan of the short even if some people might think I'm too old." She looks at Rose "I would hope that he is the kind of man who will love you properly as a person, as well as the package you present in. If he's that connected with the children, it's a good sign...and speaking of children, and yours...I have classes to teach and I should be off to them. It was very nice to meet you Philomena, and Rose, if you need another ear, just seek me out. I'm a good listener if you need one. It's a small town but I'll give you my cell. My house is the one with the red door by the shopping strip." She quickly writes down her number and passes it across before grabbing her take out coffee cup to take along back to work.

Doctor Song " Likewise Judith I will call you Thank You both for all the support . " I feel a lot stronger now and yes I will wear a peek a boo. dress." She giggles.

Theta Coffee RP Jan 4 2017 - Rose, Ase, Malik, Wolf, Judith and Maisy

Malik Ayim saunters into a coffee shop with a small bag in his hand,  he stops behind the blond man.  "Well, I did not expect to see you here, Wolfgang."

Ase Sjong " Lokii went for a swim new years eve and he wasn't alone he said ."

Judith Baldwin walks in carrying her small granddaughter in her arms and hoists her up on her hip "Grandma just needs a little coffee Sweetie....then we can go to the playground again." Maisy looks around the coffee shop and at all the people with wide curious eyes.

Doctor Song " He did what exactly and with who?!" she says surprised.

Wolfgang.Pots just looks around as he is given a paper to sign 'ill be damned.. i though it was a joke 'he shrugs and picks up the paper and reads it .. all businesslike.. scanning the paper before look up at Malik 'well ill be damned , what you doing here , you rascal ' he swears just the little kid walks by him .. 'oh shoot , dang I'm sorry .. he looks down at the cute girl "hi there Sug. " he smiles down at the girl .

Ase Sjong "Um he dove in at midnight to "save" some old lady that jumped in the water polar bear style he swears he was trying to save her ." Åse see's the little one and her face just lights up Mrs. Baldwin is that your grand kid she's a doll."

Malik Ayim grins at the little girl.  "Jambo."  he rumbles nd then looks at Wolf.  "I'm getting a gift for ...  a friend ... my landlord..."  he shrugs, ALMOST casually.  "What are you doing here?  Not buying more things for my mother?  She's busy preparing me for work."  he motions to his suit.  High quality and the tie is decidedly Africanesque.  Definately Zuri's son.  He hears the other conversion, but is too polite to even look in that direction.

Judith Baldwin is trying to put cream and sugar in her coffee now while Maisy grabs all the sugar packets and tries to line them up on the counter. She laughs and sets the child down "Stay right there Maisy..." realizing she can't actually do this one handed. She smiles at the two men and then looks back to her student for a second, a second "Oh yes she's.....Maisy!"

Maisy.Russell  feels the floor beneath and her impulsively takes off gleefully across the room to the couches where others are sitting. She hides behind one of the couches and giggles like she's tricked her grandmother.

Doctor Song "hi there" oh wait your hiding right?" shhh we wont tell " she says to the adorable munchkin.

Wolfgang.Pots  crouches down to the kids level making funny faces at the kid then uses the floor to sign the waiver and stands up to hand it 'can i have my dad gum coffee .. please 'he say to the attendant 'make it damn strong 'he say softly so the little kid cant hear him.. he turns to Malik ' ummmm welll I wont say I'm buying stuff for her.. then .. 'eh say winking and laughs 'oh your landlord .. that sounds mighty nice of ya "

Ase Sjong "Giggles at the kid hiding at the couches ,George super size the coffees we have to do the wavers with the quads we had an elderly guy order one and he ended up in the hospital a bit of a mess legally so its a CYA measure but we also comp you the first cup's refill.

Malik Ayim watches the child sort of go off.  "She is very fast to be so small."  he murmurs, actually amazed the kid can move THAT fast. He watches Wolf and shakes his head.  "I can say I am the Canadian Prime Minister, that does not make it true, right?"  he smiles and looks down a bit. "He is ... very special to me."  he confesses in a slightly muted tone.  "But ...  I ... think ... maybe ... MAYBE I understand you and my mother...."  he keeps his eyes averted.

Judith Baldwin turns around, knowing exactly where Maisy is but playing along. She smiles knowingly at the adults for a second and then walks around slowly "Where's Maisy?" She asks to the room, pretending to not know.

Maisy.Russell  smiles at the woman who played along at first, giggled at the faces made and then tries to crawl under the couch when she hears her grandmother and gets a little stuck. She quickly starts to look frustrated and then, unable to move either way, begins to just suddenly wail.

Doctor Song "uh oh are you stuck little one can i help you?" she says not wanting to scare the child further as she knows she is a stranger.

Wolfgang.Pots turns to George .. 'i was an officer in a submarine.. for months on end.. strong as coffee is the only way i stay sane and awake 'he laughs 'but yeah i understand with the waiver ' he nods and turns to Malik 'is that right.. 'he smiles chuckling reading the grin knowing .. 'nice arrangement 'he beams . and goes to pat his son back .. hard if he does 'that's my boy 'he laugh s 'you rascal ' . he turns as he hear the cry 'aw poor little rugrat .. she okay 'eh say concern his parental instincts kicking in high gear.. but he forces himself to not go running and scooping up the little girl .. an effort that takes ever fiber of his being 'when you giving me one of those 'he jokes to Malik

Ase Sjong gets up and checks on Maisy talking softly in calm tones and gently helps her out "all fixed and and makes a wave like she's sprinkling fairy dust to make it all better like her mom used to do with her when she was that age.

Malik Ayim chuckles at the interaction between his father and the clerk.  He turns a little darker with a blush and shrugs.  "Well I don't think Sydney will give me any children for you to spoil rotten."  he tells his father looking at the little girl across the room.  "When I hid from my mother like that, and cried .. she would find me and hug me ... then smack me .. then hug me .. then .. smack me."  he laughs.  "You know my mother."  black mama syndrome.

Judith Baldwin dashes over and sets down her coffee and purse on the floor and scoops Maisy into her arms, sitting half cross legged on the floor. She sighs at Ase "Thank you...." And then looks down to her granddaughter "You're OK..." and rocks her a bit.

Maisy.Russell  had looked a little terrified when the teen helped her out but her grandmother's waiting arms helped her not totally scream her head off. She quietly cries, now, with her bottom lip sticking out and her face screwed up. It's terribly sad but very cute.

Doctor Song surveys the scene quietly glad the little one isn't hurt but is taken with the pouty face and the tears " would she like a C-U-P-C-A-K-E ?" she asks Judith.

Wolfgang.Pots  looks at Malik oddly 'is Sydney in.. 'he trails off knowingly 'well guess its be all on Hani.. but that be ages.. cuz he just kid himself so .. 'he sighs looking a bit longingly at the wee kid despite the wailing 'well cant pour spilled milk back into the bottle 'he shrug and takes his coffee sipping it just watching the kid sternly but it warms it an interested smile.

Ase Sjong Is just glad the little one's ok but looks at her aunt with curious eyes as she watches her aunt interact with her teachers grand kid.

 Malik Ayim nods, slowly.  "Yes ... HE is ...."  he swallows.  "You are not angry?"  he looks t the child, feeling a little bad he isn't in a heterosexual relationship.  "Hani ... yea ... he probably wants to wait to make sure the zombies don't come."

Judith Baldwin looks down at the pouty little face she can barely resist and muses "Erica always asks me not to give them too much sugar....but I'm watching her for a few more hours....." She smiles "That would probably do the trick." She says chuckling at both women. Judith glances over at the men for a moment with curiosity. They're not locals and their conversation seems very intense from an outsider's view, not argumentative, just serious. She gives them a little smile and smooths Maisy's hair.

Maisy.Russell's tears had stopped but the pout looked stuck. It was almost picture worthy. She turned into her grandmother and tugs on her necklace casually, examining it.

Doctor Song: me grabs a small carrot cake child sized with not to much sugars- with pretty decorations. and walks over to the child her eyes just sparkling . " I cannot have Children but I have adopted two wonderful teens and adoption is a great thing."

Wolfgang.Pots  looks at him smiling 'why would i be angry as long as the dude doesn't become a peckerwood and hurt you .. then ill live 'he laughs softly 'other wise .. ill kick his ass myself 'he say warning . he looks at the kid sighing ' well Hani's a kid but he say he don't want kids.. .. he gettin over the zombie phase and preparing for another way for the world to end .. but he say he don't want them and they'll only slow him down 'he exhale 'but hes 14 . barely 14 this past Christmas .. he a kid himself so who knows 'he say half hopefully 'but if not ill be happy as long as you and him are Hani now matter what life you choose to live..  Ase Sjong yeah Adoption is a good thing I ended up with a great aunt who is a cool mom.

Malik Ayim smiles at the beloved threat, feeling very warm inside.  Then he laughs about his brother.  "There is always something that makes people think the world will end.  I will try and talk to him." then he arches his brows.  "Please  I am too old for another younger sibling."  he looks at the little girl.  "Maybe if things keep going well, Sydney and I can adopt a baby for you to spoil rotten."  he offers with a half serious chuckle.


Judith Baldwin looks sympathetically at the kind purple haired woman "Nature does not always cooperate, but it sounds like life brought you what you needed, all of you. I was very blessed and am again with Maisy and her sister. Penelope is off at horseback ridding winter camp so I have this one so my daughter can work." She unwraps the cupcake "Thank you for this....small bites Maisy Mouse..."

 Maisy.Russell sees the cupcake with big eyes. There is no grandma, no other people, no coffee shop, only cupcake. Vaguely she hears her name as she grabs a fistful of cupcake and stuffs it in her little mouth, wearing a great deal of it immediately on her face and shirt.

Doctor Song " as i say New Year new chapter in your autobiographies" she says matter of factly.

Ase Sjong tries not to intrude on the men's convo but is intrigued about all the zombie talk mixed in with the doom and gloom.

Malik Ayim is half watching the little girl with a grin. Then he glances at Wolf.  "He is enjoying his childhood.  And his friend thinks like he does.  But both were raised in America.  I think that is why they are sure it will all end badly."  he shrugs.  "And maybe.  She is very cute .. but so was I and mama tells me I am STILL a terror." he chuckles.  He is afraid to approach the little girl so tiny and cute, and he is a giant.  But he watches her amused.

Judith Baldwin laughs at Maisy and digs in her purse for wipes "Yes new chapters for everyone...." She dabs at Maisy's hands and grabs them to wipe them a bit, glancing at the student she knows and the woman "I'm Judith. I know Ase but not you. We're just here for a few before the playground...."  She looks briefly towards the men since she can hear parts of their conversation without meaning to.

Maisy.Russell  finds her hands being wiped and face plants into the rest of the cupcake eating the rest in a crumble of middle down the shirt and icing right up to the eyeballs.

Wolfgang.Pots  laughs 'i was right little monster my ma said but yeah ... thought i didn't want kids for a bit .. 'eh laughs 'but looks at me a dad of a 14 year old proper and a grown man with in the year apart 'eh laughs watching her 'but I'm still as proud as if you were that age right now 'he point at the little girl 'i can imagine you run around .. 'he sighs softly 'but I'm just happy that I'm your father.. and Hani 'he smiles at him

 Åse looks a bit mortified as if she was expected to get married and pregnant like her ancestors used to do as soon as the plumbing started working."

Malik grins and pats Wolf's back. "You get your coffee. I need to get back to White Rock."

Judith Baldwin looks down at Maisy as it gets even messier "You might just need a bath and a new shirt Maisy Mouse.....I think some of it went in though. Thank you Rose. It's very nice to meet you."

Maisy.Russell  just looks messy and happy to stay that way. The word bath makes her give Grandma a defiant look. Those are terrible. Before she can even squawk she gets scooped up and carried out.

Life in the coffee shop carries on with many more vignettes of the locals and tourists.

Doctor Song and Leo Matsouka Look at the clock in the community center, "Oh shat "says Doc. "I forgot about the time, The kids will be on the last ferry back from Vancouver." a Mortified look forms on her face. Leo looks at Doc, "So what?" He says chuckling , "They are pretty much adults being 16 and Bats 15 they aren't babies ." Doc is still nervous," But so soon after the Funeral, it might not be seen in a good light." Leo pulls Doc close and says softly, " All that you have done for others all your life its time for a reward , Rose my sweet Rose . It's gonna be ok Trust me trust yourself.

The couple makes there way to the Alexandra ferry docks, The Vancouver ferry can be seen in the distance as it comes into the docking position. the couple assumes the parental position.

"Tante Rose , what!" says a somewhat bemused Lokii hey guys come check this out. Åse and Elektra come running to the forward railing, Lokii points at two familial forms at the Alexandra Dock, " It's Tante' Rose and your dad Bat" he chuckles " check them out they must of snuck a date at the dance ." Åse looks at bat then smiles widely " about damn time!"she says. Bat just looks and laughs slightly " You two Kids are so busted. " she shouts as the ferry docks and the passengers from Alexandra board.
Both Doctor song and Leo recieve A group Hug/ Glomp from the kids.

After the happy remeet everyone moves inside the lounge and sits for some ship board sodas, Åse starts the Convo, "Tante, I dont see why your so embarrassed If you think it's too soon after mom died don't Lokii and I knew she was terminal and we were worried you'd make us mourn forever, we been mourning her since we knew say half of our lives. " Lokii Pipes in "Look Tante' we all gave so much we forgot to live our own lives." Bat also starts in " Dad you been single to long Stop feeling sorry that mom left you for Andrea she never spent any time with me after i was weaned so I don't even know her honestly . and IF you two want to hang out and date I think we are all in favor of it , besides Åse and Lokii are like my secret siblings anyways cause we always hang out together. " she adds giggling "But promise not to make out in front of us , we'll make you two get a room."

Shops Day RP Theta Sigma Dec. 7th - Elektra, Mrs Baldwin, Kit, Addy, L, Owen

Bat looks at her phone Åse wasn't at class today and  she's concerned   no messages  she sighs and thinks about what she'll order today.

Judith Baldwin walks in looking frazzled from teaching. Seeing a student she's sure is from the school she puts on a smile and says "Hello." as she ends up beside her at the counter "Coffee, black. Please." She orders like she's asking for salvation.

Kitsune Stewart is waking the street covering in snow with a couple of bags in his hand just waking along dreamy with his headphones on as he looks around

Addison OBrian moves towards the coffee shop. Fiona and Vincent left right after the class and she decided not to follow them. They had precious little alone time, really. She crosses with Owen and sees Kit. She waves and all but screams, knowing him and his damn headphones separating him from the world. "Kit!"

Elena Horatio just walks a few steps behind and just looks around and goes to head in the coffee shop

Owen Reinhardt moves his mouth around, still tasting the last of their tuna casserole from cooking class and frowning "Just a little more spice would have been..." He sees a guy with headphones and then suddenly Addy yells beside him and he ducks "Bloody hell......L..." He says the last part pathetically as L suddenly passes them and goes in.

Bat oh hi Mrs. Baldwin  she says smiling as Mrs. Baldwin is on her fave teachers list   "yo Georgie boy one triple espresso Godzilla chocolate frapp and  some churros".

Judith Baldwin smiles at Elekra "Godzilla, such amusing names here."

Kitsune Stewart looks around notice a slight movement between Addy and the boy that move and enters the shop . he yells with his headphones one 'oh hi Addy. what are you doing here.. 'he say confused

Addison OBrian winces when the realizes shes screamed in Owen's ear. "Shit. Sorry Owen." she apologizes. Moving up to Kit she sighs and reaches up, having to get on her tip toes to do it, and slides his headphones off of his ears and around his neck. "I take classes after school here. Sat in on cooking today." now she doesn't have to scream. "What are YOU doing here? Come in and have coffee? It's cold out here." and she heads inside confident he'll follow.

Elena Horatio just walks in and heads for the counter nodding at bat and standing behind the Mrs. Baldwin

Bat sees everyone and waves them over to the usual spot and says You can join us too ms Baldwin cause you cool with us"

Kitsune Stewart just smiles and follows like a puppy trailing her right behind and just waving at "sup man 'he just say then turns to the front and nods along to the music

Addison OBrian stops at the counter and glances behind her with a grin. There he is, right behind her. She looks at the menu. "Americano, please." she orders and looks at Kit while waiting for her drink. Her eyes wander in the direction of Owen, mused. When L is around ... Owen becomes INCREDIBLY amusing.

Elena Horatio just raises his eyebrow at Kit slight amused but just waits his turn as the line form

Owen Reinhardt walks in belatedly after a mild panic attack outside. He looks at the counter but hangs back like he's deciding from afar, standing very awkwardly.

Bat: checks her cell again, still no word from Åse , Bat knows about the twin's mum being sick  and hopes its not that reason   and then smiles as her frozen concoction is delivered  along with two warm churros and a small cup of warm honey to dip them in

Judith Baldwin takes her coffee and turns, smiling at Addison "Hello Dear....you did very well today. And lead your group when it was...needed..." she looks past the rest of the teens sternly at Owen and then goes to sit as she had been invited. She nods to Elektra "That all looks tasty."

Kitsune Stewart looks at the menu 'ummm ill just have a water'he say softly 'and some nachos and some churros and a peanut butter smoothie ' he ticks off his order . he beams a cheesy grin at Addy . im shopping for stuff 'he laughs 'i forgot you come here today 'he laugh soflty 'do you come here all the time

Addison O'Brian gets her Americano and cups it in her hands, warming them. She smiles. "Thank you, Mrs. Baldwin." she looks at Owen with an amused sort of look, pays and looks at Kit. Giggling at his order a bit, she shrugs. "Mostly just checking out the water, but I like the cooking class." she admits. "Come on lets sit." and she moves towards L knowing Owen will follow with Kit.

L turns to Owen . why is ze teacher giving you how zey say ze stink eye .. 'he say softly and look a the menu 'ill have an espresso black " he say softly and just waits for Owen's answer turning to him

Owen Reinhardt walks closer at L's question and trips on his own foot slightly. He tries to make it look like nothing and walks up to the counter to lean an arm on it and misses, stumbling again "I dunno...I uh get a little bored with the recipes...and there's this big spice cupboard...."He blushes. The coffee clerk clears their throat and he turns his head "Oh yeah uh...coffee....no mocha please...."

Bat Oh it is Ms Baldwin its 4 shots espresso blended with frozen espresso cubes dark chocolate syrup,heavy cream , ice cream and a banana blended  and churros are a must with it, fattening but hey i'm a growing kid.  looks around any one hear from Ase or Lokii today+"

Judith Baldwin's eyes widen "That does sound quite rich but you are young. As long you don't have any tests this after noon that require quiet concentration..." She laughs and glances across to Addison, her new student and a boy she hasn't had in her classes. Not everyone chose her class an elective though. And with some it seemed like it should be required learning. She looked over to Owen fumbling and talking to a student who she couldn't figure out immediately. Judith had gone to the teacher seminars on LGBTQ2 and gender awareness though and she'd never outright ask. The world was a broader place than when she was a girl.

Kitsune Stewart receives his massive order following her and just starts stuffing his face as he looks around at everyone 'oh hey everyone 'he just waves in energetic manner 'I'm Kit!!'he say excitedly between bites

Addison O'Brian chuckles as she overhears Owen. Kit comes and sits by her and she grins and sips her coffee. "So what ARE you doing here, Kit?" she asks again.

L look at owen 'are you okay .. 'he says soflty watching him stumble going to help even though that probably make it worse

Owen Reinhardt tries to look suave now "Spectacular. Why do you ask?" He tries to put his hand on the counter again and smacks the sugar bowl right to the floor "Oh shit..." he mutters, turning crimson and looking at the clerk "I'm so sorry....do you have a dust pan...I'll clean it up...." He can't look at L now or anyone close to his age in the room.

Bat cringes as she hears a crash behind her ,  " actually these have the opposite effect on me they mellow me out.  or at least it seems that way," she looks at Addison  Hi Addy  looks like you got your hands full today. . "

Judith Baldwin turns to look at her most challenging student causing disaster again. At least it wasn't in her classroom this time. That boy...she sips her coffee deeply and looks out the window tiredly.

Kitsune Stewart laugh soflty at Addy 'I'm just doing some Christmas shopping i don't have a last period so i though i check this town out to see what kinda of stuff i could find.. got to look for extra special gift 'he laugh softly .. he holds out a churros 'want some 'he say smiling . He leans over anyone close can here Christmas song pipe out of his headphone . he turns slight at the crash . the churro still in the air as he looks over at the two people

Addison O'Brian angles her body to watch L and Owen, because they NEVER get old. She murmurs. "Spectacular. What are you? Sixty?" very quietly and then sees the sugar bowl go down. Pulling out her phone, she pauses, then puts it away. Better to get the WHOLE report before delivering it. Never text in the middle of the movie, she reminds herself. She looks at Bat and beans. "I didn't expect to see Kit. He's a friend of mine. Almost made it into our school." she makes it sound like it was a lot closer than she knows it was. She looks at Kit's bags. "That my Christmas present, friend?""" she giggles. "Get a new girlfriend?" she teases, lightly.

L winces 'mon dieu .. he say softly in his deeper tone when he is in this form 'um.. no reason .. 'he say softly not knowing what to say and just purposely steps between Owen and the group as to hide him if he could a weak attempt at it

Owen Reinhardt takes the dustpan from the clerk and bends behind L to sweep muttering a quiet and grateful "Thanks." He had seen Addy, her headphone friend, a local student he'd seen in the halls and his teacher all looking before he bent and wanted to crawl under the counter and slowly die. He fills the dustpan and offers it meekly to the clerk, the remains of the sugar bowl "I'll pay extra for my coffee. I really am...sorry. Butterfingers...."

George The clerk / smiles at Owen  saying "thanks dude , No Worries I was your age once he chuckles".

Bat  " hey guys you gonna come sit with us  cool peeps?"

Judith Baldwin downs her coffee and looks around for a clock. "Do any of you kids have the time?"

Kitsune Stewart just turns back to Addy attempt to snatch the bags out of her hand and just chuckles 'your not suppose to look .. what if i was one of old saint nick helpers and you spoil the surprise 'eh laughs soflty . he random turns to the older lady and the other teen girl ' i go to cedar point 'he chuckles sofltly add and turn back to Addy 'nah the ones chasing me are really not nice.. they call each other names behind each other backs.. 'eh say softly 'only Janice is nice but she got a boyfriend but that's ok cuz i got a some job so i can make some money for stuff i need to buy 'he explains ' . he turns to Addy and leans in 'do those two dude like each other .. he say trying to figure it all out .

Addison O'Brian tries to avoid calling for L to get out of the way so she can SEE. The intentions are good, but the show is BETTER. She puts her attention back on Kit trying to take his own property from her. Males. "Well .. at least there someone special." she looks over at Owen and L. "Yea. I think they do. Just neither of them knows it." she rolls her eyes. Looking at her phone she replies. "It's 12:45ish, Ma'am."

L just whisper 'its OK .. he say softly and stays trying to block Owen from the others.. 'i like spicy food.. 'he say softly 'have you ever had Indian curry .. 'he say softly

Owen Reinhardt blushes and grins "Yeah I love curry. I still can't figure out how to make it right but I love an Indian buffet.....Oh my god samosas...do you like samosas? " He hands the nice guy a ten and shakes his head "No change...seriously...thanks man." He takes his coffee and holds it very carefully and then looks back at L "Do you wanna go...sit over there. That purple haired girl asked...." The food topic broke his awkwardness a bit but his stance was still unnatural.

Bat  Looks at Kit ¤ best thing about being Greek orthodox is all the after regular Christmas and inventory clearance sales before our Christmas makes waiting till the 6th worth it.  and I promise to bake up some Baklava for everyone this year

Judith Baldwin stands after the time check "I better go prepare for my afternoon classes." She smiles at Addison "Thank you dear." She extends the smile to Kit "Nice to meet you." Looking at Elektra she nods, impressed "You have to get the phillo just right. It can be tricky." With a sort of sympathetic look at Owen and his friend she turns to go "Have a good afternoon folks and study hard."

Kitsune Stewart laugh soflty at Addy 'you're like just like kid.. boop 'he gots to softly bops her nose cutely with ringer finger 'you're so adorable.. 'he chuckles softly . he turns 'to the purple hair girl 'so you have wait 'he say curiously 'i don't .. know if could wait that long .. i barely am to wait till Christmas eve.. i end up begging my dad if we can just open them early .. he usually caves cuz i get all hyper on him 'he laugh . he just waves at the lady being polite and mouths .. to Addy 'who is that lady '

Addison O'Brian cannot hear L .. that damn voice .. you'd think in male mods he'd talk louder .. or maybe she was just too used to Kit already. She looks at Bat. "Kit'll eat it. I guarantee." she teases. When Kit bops her nose she grins. "That's me. Adorable." she looks after the teacher. "Oh that's Ms Baldwin. She teaches the cooking class. "Take care Ma'am." she calls, belatedly.

L looks at you 'no i don't like samosas 'he say softly . he just shrugs 'i suppose we should 'he say softly

Owen Reinhardt was starting to look hopeful at L. They had a topic, they were talking. But then he'd done it again, just like the damn fruit bats. He asked the wrong question. He slumped a little and nodded "Cool.....I'm gonna go ....to the ....thing...and sit....." He saw Mrs. Baldwin go and then walked self consciously to one of the couches, taking the spot she vacated and looking at the purple haired girl, Addy and her friend Kit like he was staring across the ocean at them on a life boat.

Bat looks at the two new guys and says politely " sorry i forgot to introduce myself , I'm Elektra but Most just call me Bat I'm what is called a townie  cause i am living here."

Kitsune Stewart smiles 'i loving eating .. eating is like best thing of being alive .. well one of the best things 'he laugh softly . he chuckles softly 'oh bad news' he say to Addison frowning . but turns to Bat 'that's a cool fucking name 'he says randomly

Addison O'Brian watches Owen and actually feels a measure of pity for him. He's trying so hard. But she can relate, sort of. She tries to give him an encouraging look and drinks of her Americano. "So, Owen." she tries to distract him. "Fiona and I are going shopping this weekend. You got plans? Maybe you can hang out with Vincent so he's not alone?" she pauses. "Unless you have other plans?"she is about to say something else when Kit says bad news and she looks at him. "What? What bad news?"

L just follows and plops with his espresso sipping looking curiously at own studying him . then turns to Bat 'good to see you again how you been "

Owen Reinhardt looks at Bat "I'm Owen...most people call me Owen." He says with a little grin. His grin widens at the guy talking about loving food and he just nods at him agreeing enthusiastically. He looks at Addy and shrugs "Yeah sure....I was going to replay Minecraft story mode and film a vlog but that can happen anytime....unless he likes Minecraft...."

Kitsune Stewart looks at Addy 'dont be mad but .. dad said i couldn't get a horse drawn coach 'he says with seriousness and sighs and shrugs 'i tried 'he say softly

Bat "I'm doing ok L  Just kinda concerned that Åse didn't show for classes , hope its not her mom .  and good to meet you Owen  I love Minecraft.  but My dad got me hooked on Skyrim.   my dad's like a big kid i have to keep him entertained.

Addison O'Brian blinks at the introduction of Owen. Obviously it will fall on another brother to carry on the family name. She shrugs. "I don't know if he likes Minecraft or not. But you can NOT become one of those creepy vloggers on YouTube. God .. just .. no ..." she turns her head to look at Kit so sharply she almost hurts herself. "Oh .... well ... I ... I'll ... have ... to .. um ... deal ... with .... um ... just ... walking. I only live a little way from the Community Center where the Formal is, anyway. A horse ... well ... um ... you ... couldn't park it ... anyway ..." she tries to make this sound logical.

L smiles and just nods 'bless wishes 'he say as he listen Owen a bit interest and just nods not that interest most video game but just listening

Owen Reinhardt isn't sure who Ase is so just glances at Bat and slowly nods and then looks to the food loving guy confusedly about the horse thing "You wanted to get a horse buggy for what? When we were in Europe we went in one of those. It was cool but the horse had wicked gas....super loud too....so nasty." He seems a little delighted by it despite the gross. He looks at Addy with a smirk "I'm already a creepy vlogger. I have three videos up. My user name is crashtheminecart99. Skyrim's cool too. Huge. i've barely done a playthrough once." He nods at Bat and then looks at L hoping he hasn't chosen another topic she hates. He's making a list...no fruitbats...he's checking it twice...no samosas...

Bat "oh cool. " Owen    "I hope I dont sound like a nerd, " she quips "  and  so far no one's asked me to any dance.  oh well " maybe i'm not  as popular " she laughs self cociously.

Kitsune Stewart looks up 'yeah .. and i wanted to be all magical like some fairytale ball thing that you see in movies and stuff 'he say soflty 'thanks for understand 'he say soflty . he turns to electra 'im going with this kiddo 'he points to addy with two finger and chuckles and turns back ' so its good that i cant get a coach 'eh say abit relieved

Addison O'Brian looks at Owen with a glare she may have learned from his sister. "For ME! He's taking me to the Winter Formal." then she blinks and pulls out her phone. "Ok .... crashtheminecart99." she looks at it. for a moment. She sniffs at Bat's words. "Popularity isn't all it's cracked up to be." she sounds borderline bitter. Then she looks at Kit. "Thats so sweet, Kit." she looks at Bat. "Yea, I keep the creepy girls off of him. now she sounds resigned. Ahh the role of the female best friend in Kit's life.

L looks back and forth from the conversation about a coach and then turns back to owen and just randomly say 'i watch youtube mainly just some educational stuff and some steampunk builders .. 'eh says softly 'i had a friend that play skyrim but im not big into fanatsy ' he shrugs ' me either but i dont if want to go 'eh say soflty and flatly . he just raises his eyebrow at kit but just chuckles soflty and turns back to the owen and bat

Owen Reinhardt watches Bat as she talks about not being asked and then catches the glare from Addy and listens to the plans for she and the weird food guy to go. He looks at L blinking. L doesn't want to go? Does he want to go? Does he want to ask? His anxiety descends on him again like a swarm of angry bees. His breath quickens and his voice cracks as he suddenly says "I think I forgot something at the school..." and jumps up, running for the door. He tries to be quick about his exit but the door is enormous and heavy and he pulls it fast, smack into his face. With a little whimper, he slips through it. Is it possible to actually die of embarrassment. He sure hopes so right now.

Bat Shouts "Bye Owen" ! Then turns to the others and says matter of factly wow that dude has it really bad  total puppy syndrome  I just hope his crush feels the same.

Kitsune Stewart laughs soflty 'good kiddo cuz i need you to take care of my trouble 'he say soflty and innocently and finishes off his nachos ' he turnsar oudn 'that poor little dude.. 'eh says oflty watch him leave but shrugs and finishes his churro and offers addy his last churro 'want some '

Addison O'Brian watches Owen's exit with half lidded eyes. It improved her day quite a bit. She really had to work on her secretly filming stuff, so Fi could get the WHOLE visual. She looks at Kit and can't help but smile. "Thats my job and I do it well, my friend." she smiles at the offer, takes the churro and tears it i half, giving him back the larger half. "We share, OK?" she looks at L ad hen at the door, but Owen seem safely out of it. "So L ...." she begins. "Dude what DO you like besides jam sessions with Vincent?" she knows the play together a lot.

L just blinks 'is he ill or somezing ' he looks concern after him curiously perplex and just sip his espresso ' he looks at addy cautious 'just reading steampunk novel, stuff with time travel and practicign my cello and listenig to apocolypica and music 'he shrugs 'what do you on for a hobbie ' he smile at her call him a dude and awaits her answer

Addison O'Brian shrugs at L. "Probably something he ate." she quips and sighs at the cautious look. "I don't want France's government secrets, L." she almost snaps. "We're all supposed to be friends; me and Fi and Vincent and Owen. You make it so HARD .. we have to almost drag you to sit with us for coffee at home and getting to know you is like ... like ... trying to get to know ... i dunno ... some international spy or something." she vents. She takes a deep and hopefully calming breath, her honesty and Irish temper getting the better of her. "For example. I like baseball in general. Cubs in particular. I like baking and rock music and ..." she considers and sighs. "Now I sound like a dating sight." she watches Kit et and relaxes some more. She knows he is slow and, t the moment, wishes she could be slow too.

L nods 'my uncle got me into .. he used be a builder but he has his duty as ze french teacher at the academy .. 'he smiles ' i love anyzing with history and putting a twist on it . anyzing that has .. ' he has this dreamy look but is snap out of his revelry abruptly going quiet and blinking as he just starting to open up 'oh .. 'he say soflty 'i just dont make friends.. that .. Bat Looks at addy then L  then kit trying to put together what just happened in her head  she wants to say something but  holds back. Thinking to herself  Maybe  its a european thing but she likes L for being mysterious.  but yeah it's best to just let this blow over  " " we all are who we are  I guess. "

Kitsune Stewart just watches listening L avout buildng then turns to addsion as he sips on his smoothie watching blinking and just pats addy shoulder as if to comfort her .

Addison O'Brian sighs. "We don't bite, you know. We let you in. We've adjusted to you ... male and female ... that's not always so comfortable. But WE let YOU in." she sighs deeply. "I know you can't have had it real easy with the bi-gender thing, but you'll never make friends if they have to chase you down EVERY TIME." she looks at Bat. "Well, if we want to make people work like .. like .. like .. house elves JUST to be friends." Kit touches her shoulder then and she sort of deflates and leans into him. "Maybe I need to go home." she sounds tired now, emotionally on edge. "Let's blame PMS, ok guys." it's not but its the best excuse women have at their disposal. Addison O'Brian sighs deeply. Damnable Irish temper. She, naturally, blames her father. She leans into Kit and hugs his arm tight. "I think we need to geek you up." she offers a smile. "Because if you don't know what a house elf is .... that's ... it's just unnatural L. But I can fix it, if I haven't scared you off." she looks at Electra and nods. She tells her her phone number and snorts. "Text anytime, if you want. I can be kinda scary." She allows Kit's touch the whole time and then takes his hand and stands. "Come on .. you can go as far as Alexandra, but then you have to go home. I know you have homework to do." she sounds like the mans mother. She offers her hand to L and realizes she's dealing with male mode. "Come on. Let's get the ferry nd I'll explain what a house elf is." she offers the olive branch.

L looks at her blinking and just nods and tentatively shakes her hand 'im a geek .. i just dont follow fantasy if that what it is ' but nods and goes with them follow behind them

Shops Day RP Theta Sigma - Ase, Elektra, Addison, L

Ase Sjong Looks at Bat "I still feel like a noob at school  it's just  like odd to me ."

Addison OBrian walks into the cafe tucking her phone back in her sweater pocket. She moves to the counter, orders a coffee and looks around. Her attendance has been sporadic and will probably continue to be, but she enjoyed her class and may as well have some coffee before going back home.

Elektra Matsouka looks around at the people coming in from shop classes  not seeing anyone she knows just continues to drink her coffee and people watch.

Elena Horatio walks in later looking around interest as she rarely attend shop and walks into this massive 'coffee shop" she looks around before slowly making her way to the counter to see what they had to offer

Ase Sjong  " Bat I am worried about my tante' Rose she's been all wierded out last few days and when I ask her  she says nuff'ns wrong but I dont believe it."

Addison OBrian gets her coffee and adds the cream and sugar as she likes. Turning to L she smiles. "I meant to tell you in school .. I love your sweater and jacket." she sighs and stirs. "I wish I could wear pink and purples without looking like a blind artists worst painting."

Elektra Matsouka Looks around  at the person making the blind artist statement then says to her Bestie Åse " Åse   adults cant get buggered by the lamest shite  but she does look like a train wreck lately but if it ivolves you I am sure she'd tell ya ... adults are odd."

Elena Horatio looks up at the menu ..smiling humming softly to herself then orders herself a smoothie and a baguette with cheese ' she turns to addy smiles 'merci. I wish I had your hair .. tres belle " she say sweetly and waits for her order 'your hair suits you ' she says cheerfully. She nods at the other girls in politeness.

Ase Sjong turns to notice the hairs of the two at the counter " Hi I think you both have nice hair ." Looks at Bat " We got room over here were there isn't any dudes to bug you if you want to join us." Åse says being polite.

Addison OBrian turns and looks at the girl with the green hair and smiles. "Thank you." she takes the offer and heads over, motioning for L to hopefully join her. She laughs lightly. "I'm Addison O'Brian. Taking the woodshop class at the school. she sits and sips her coffee.

Addison OBrian smiles. "Hi! Bat's a great name. My Dad probably would have named me that if he had a chance. Ash bat or hicory bat anything but aluminum bat." she looks at L. "Yea. Neither of us make them all ... or I have to go early to help my father with his bar." she grins. "Nice to meet you both."

Elektra Matsouka Perks your dad's a bar owner ? woah cool, they dont have bars here ,  kinda stupid old fogey thing something to do with this island being a old health place . looks over at L  Notices something but just keeps quiet about it cause  she just cool that way.

Elena Horatio smiles and nods 'yes it is a great nickname .. It has a family license or whatever, but no one ever brings their kids in." she looks at L and smiles. She's getting more social ... or maybe that was the female part. Arching her brows she looks over. "Your Norwegian? From Norway, right?"

Elektra Matsouka " Bet my rents won't take me   oh well i only have 3 more years anyways  i can wait." by the way  my grands are from Cyprus.  i guess addison your Irish and L your french or French canadian?

Addison OBrian nods. "Irish-American born and now I think of myself as Canadian-American-Irish. That covers most of it." she giggles and drinks. "What are you guys doing in Canada?"

Elektra. Matsouka "I am second generational Canadian  so i guess i was born here like my dad my mom is from cyprus but was born in greece. I'm here cause my grandpa got some crazy notion to leave the diplomatic service and buy a shipping company."

Ase Sjong " my aunts taking care of me and my twin brother  My mom's unable to care for us anymore with her M.S."

Addison OBrian arches a brow. "A diplomat, huh? I could never be one of those." she looks at se. "I'm so sorry to her that."

Elektra Matsouka Yeah he was something like a diplomatic courier he would take messages from one embassy to another,  go get food etcetras basicly a gopher

Elena Horatio frowns 'im so so sorry ' she say leaning forward looking sympathic to ase as she listen. . she nods at Bat 'interesting ' she say truly geniune

Ase Sjong no worries  we were prepared for things at a very early age , my brother and i can't remember a day when she wasnt in a wheelchair or sick  don't get me wrong I love her dearly but we all get ill and  die someday  some sooner than later. i honestly pray that her pain will go away and she can be at peace and whole again.even if its just in a 6 foot deep hole ".

Addison OBrian nods. "Somebody's got to do it." she points out. "Can't everyone be the Prims Minister or some other high profile glamorous position." she considers Ase's words. "That makes sense. I mean ... seeing loved one in pain ... sick ... and for the LONG term? Maybe the right to die should be considered more often." she sighs.

Elektra Matsouka  looks at åse astonished at her words " Wow åse  i would of never expected that from you,  I would hate to be someone who had to decide that all tho. anyways", she says trying to change the subject to a more happier one " so i guess your not from theta ?"

Elena Horatio just nods along with ase as she is grateful for the things she has with her love ones being healthly . she smiels 'oui.. i can only imagine ze zing you're going through ' she say softly ' she turns to Bat . 'yes we all have our place in life and all places are important for ze world to function ' she nods . L not sure if she speak to her still just shake her head

Ase Sjong  takes a moment to think " we have what we have."

Addison OBrian shakes her head. "Alexandra." she admits. "You guys should come visit us someday. School gets out the Winter Break and then the fests REALLY take off!" she sounds excited. "I noticed they are getting set to build the Holiday House!" she shrugs at Ase's indifference. "We LOVE winter. But Spring ... THATS the REAL food fests!"

Elektra Matsouka Looks at L  Yeah thats true  I guess my place is to be here for my friends  and i been to alexandria oh wait probily not that alexandria   i been to alexandria egypt . laughs  but hey if you have food fests i am so there.

Elena Horatio listens at addy also new to alexandra then replies .. "it all seem very interesting ' she nods 'its all decorated all pretty ' she supports addy 'food is always a good zing ' she giggles soflty 'im new to zere but it seem like an ok place to be 'she say soflty '

Ase Sjong  "yay cool I'm not the only new girl in town ,  I tell you its hard to fit in sometimes , but again  i am glad not to be the center of attention here."

Addison OBrian chuckles. "No ... that's the one with an I .... we're the better one without it." she replies. "Oh yea ... they have a food fest and a contest between the chefs in town AND a test to see who has the better cooks ... the police or the fire Department." she grins. "We TRY and include all. Sometimes it works ... and sometimes it doesn't. We JUST went to co-ed bathrooms and locker rooms ...." he glances at L. "Mixed success on that one." she admits.

Elektra Matsouka I dont see the big deal in who uses what room I allways use whats the closest and cleanest 9 out of ten thats the mens room. I guess thats from my dad being my at home with me parent.  i am so glad the adults are catching on to what we " KIDS "are doing anyways.

Elena Horatio laugh with Ase "me ezer 'she chuckles 'i like to observe and be included but not alway center stage odd for a musican ., no ' she laughs ' oui im glad zat i dont have to choose based on what gender im feeling or my sex .. i like zat zey are forward think but oui its gotta some heat .. Addison OBrian shrugs. "Get sexually harassed by someone, you might feel different." she advises. "And not all kids are into it. I don't know. Males and females are different. That's biology, and no one can change that short of surgery. But even then ... while its not fair to discriminate against all the different genders, society now tries to force everyone to deny they see ANY difference in anyone, even if they are uncomfortable. That seems lopsided in the OTHER direction, you know." she looks at L and smiles. "Someday.....a century ... maybe two ..."'

Ase Sjong In Norway things like gender and sex dont make notice  we dont ignore it but we dont say you have to be this or that, we allways been like that   when we became  seperate from sweden we said  everyones equal  and now that inclues alot . so call me wierd but i dont see the issues".

Elektra Matsouka  Giggles  maybe we could do a protest to get the dults to lighten up about things afterall its the holidays.

Addison OBrian giggles. "But when I DO try and look feminine, dammit! I want SOMEONE to notice!" she protests. She isnt terribly feminine at the moment. "Some of us have to work HARDER to be feminine." she almost pouts. "The holidays make it WORSE. Like ... the Winter Formal is the 17th ..... Males in tuxes or really nice suits. Women in gowns .... L in one or the other but FORMAL." she grins, teasing. She swallows. "Face it ... some men are scary. And some women hate men based on bad experiences." she smiles. "Well, in Canada ... you'll learn it .. they are only slightly ahead of the US here, to be honest."

Addison OBrian looks hurt. "You wouldn't get IN. SOME of us have standards!" she huffs. "I'm not girly girl either, just RESPECTFUL of tradition and the rules and regs." she snorts in her turn. "One of the cops is very butch she says. She respects the rules, but wears a tux like the men." she shakes her head and finishes her coffee. "You should go, L ... tux or a dress ... whichever you are that day ... or ask Professor Sharp .. she's the cop who always goes in a tux or suit." she takes in calming breath. "My father and others work VERY hard. To have all that disrespected ..." she makes a frustrated sound and checks her phone.

Elektra Matsouka  yeah i can respect traditions  but   i am very uncomfortable in a dress .  maybe a pantsuit dress like they had in the 70's"

Sister Solution - Owen, Fiona, Vincent, Addison, L, Mrs. Baldwin

Owen Reinhardt heard the timer go off for the roasted vegetable mixtures the students had ob broil in the ovens. He had been doing very well so far, following instructions today after over spicing his banana loaf last week so it was almost inedible. They key now was in maintaining his cool when it was time to puree these veggies and seasoned the soup they would be making. No experiments. He waited his turn in taking his little shallow pan from the oven and grabbed an oven mitt.

Their teacher, Mrs. Baldwin, passed by as she did her rounds and supervised each group “Owen you need both hands protected. Use two mitts please dear.”

Owen nodded at her “Yes Ma’am.” But all the other mitts were in use. He’d just be careful. Of course he could wait for another student to be done with theirs and pass him another one but he wanted to get the stuff and move onto the next step at a work station. He reached for the pan and stepped on his shoelace, tripping himself a bit so that his pan started to fall as it slid out. Without thinking he reached out with his bare hand to try and catch it with both hands and yelped as the hot metal made contact with the flesh on his thumb and pointer finger. The pan fell to the floor as he jumped back in pain, holding the burned hand with the oven mitt protectively.

Mrs. Baldwin was back in a flash and started steering Owen to the sink “Cold water, deep breaths. Let’s take a look now….”

Owen looked at her stubbornly and held onto the hand. The searing sensation was horrible and maddening though and he really just wanted to scream.

Mrs. Baldwin was stern but her eyes were kind “Owen….come on now. The cold water will offer relief.”

Reluctantly he stretched out his arm, the hand already beginning to bubble on the side of the thumb. He winced as he put it under the tap but the cold water did help.

Mrs. Baldwin frowned at it “I do have some first aid for burns of course but that’s a pretty bad one. I think you should go to the school nurse. She can administer painkillers.”

Owen looked panicked at the suggestion. Strange doctors and nurses terrified him. His real fear, his deathly fear, was needles. It always had been. His parents had to hold him down as a child for vaccinations and as he had gotten a bit older, he didn’t need restraining but often just fainted. He was in a strange school far from home now and the last thing he wanted was to faint in the nurse’s office. Mrs. Baldwin’s voice washed over him like the adults in the Charlie Brown movies. He was aware that she was still speaking, handing him an ice pack and directing him to this dreaded room that would surely be filled with needles wall to wall and floor to ceiling. He nodded at her as if he understood and meant to comply, taking his hand off holding the ice pack momentarily to sling his backpack over one shoulder and exit the Foods Lab.

Owen wandered the hallways for a few minutes thinking on what to do. Thinking was hard because he was really in absolute agony. He passed the metal shops door and heard clanging and folding. He passed the wood shops door and heard a band saw followed by a familiar laugh. Fiona. Fiona! She could help him! He looked in the little window on the door. She was at a desk close to it. He could see the back of her head. She flipped her long black hair and said something morose to her boyfriend Vincent. Owen knew that tone in her voice very well. Vincent smiled at her in amusement but he was facing the door. Owen began to wave madly at him and point to his sister.

Vincent DiAntoni found he was doing pretty well in woodworking, even though he could so easily hurt his hands. Besides, Addison and Fiona were also taking the class, so ... stick with your friends ... when you had them ... and they were real. Now it was almost over and he could joke more freely. He was more relaxed this week, even with the surprise move.

Fiona made a joke and he laughed and looked up to see Owen in the doorway, looking ... frightened? Hurt. He reaches out calmly to touch Fiona's shoulder. Once she gets her attention, he begins to walk towards the door towards Owen, knowing Fiona will follow. And possibly Addison as well.

Addison O'Brian also looked over and followed. She was, after all, Fiona's best friend and had known Owen since he was a baby.

Fiona was looking back down at her collection of wood slats after kidding around, lining them up and assessing when Vincent touched her shoulder and then walked toward the door. She saw Owen's face through the window wincing. She knew that face. He was hurt! No matter how much she seemed to revel in torturing her younger brothers, if either of them got hurt she automatically became the kind loving big sister that had taken them by the hand to their mom when they had scraped knees from pavement as little kids. She looked back and saw Addy following too and nodded at her as the three snuck out the door.

Owen was holding the ice pack to his hand still and mumbled "Thanks." to Vincent as he, Fiona and Addison came to him. Carefully and with a little whimper, he pulled back the ice pack to reveal the burn. It was looking pretty bubbly and gross and it throbbed "It's my fault....but I don't wanna go to the nurse."

Fiona grimaced at the burn "Oh shit Owen. I think you need one....I can go with you."

Owen put the ice back on and sighed with a tiny bit of relief and then said resolutely "No. I wanna go home."

Fiona sighed and then nodded "OK...but if that looks infected, I'm taking you to Dr. McKinney later, no arguments." She looks at the clock on the wall and frowns "I guess I'm sneaking out a little early...but I have Tylenol in my bag. I'll go get it."

L has her head down as she works on her project. She looks up at the commotion now dark hair in her way. She readjust the clip in her hair to get a better look. Spotting what looks like is Owen. She furrows her brow in concern at the boys' plight. She is hesitant and ops to look on with concern with her new friend's brother's trouble 

Vincent quickly decides his role is to help buck Owen up a bit. They are the same physical age, but Vincent is older and Owen is younger ... each for different reasons. He looks at the burn and winces. "Yea, you better have that looked at. I don't think it's a 1st degree, but ...." he shrugs. "It happens when you're cooking, sometimes." he doesn't get into how he can tell burn degrees at his age. "But Owen ... you'll get cremes and a bandage." he offers. "VERY cool, dude." he glances over his shoulder. "We'd better get going if we're going to catch the ferry."

Addison whimpers ... she has had enough sickness for a while ... and enough of Dr McKinney ... who she loves but after her father, if she never stepped foot in the clinic again ... it would be too soon. "I'll cover for you, Fi." she offers. "And go back with L." she smiles at Owen. "I'll bring some cupcakes to your bedside. I promise."

Fiona gives Addison a quick hug and makes a request "Can you...uh ask the teacher for some extra instructions?" She winks knowingly "While we sneak our schoolbags out of there? I'll get yours Vincent, and your coat....one person sneaking is easier than two. Stay with Owen for a sec?"

Owen watches Fiona moving to creep back in for her and Vincent's things with Addy. Did she say cupcakes to his bedside? He looked after her dreamily as she retreats and then sees L through the door as it opens and blinks like his brain is imploding. Girls were still so confusing to him. Girls, sort of girls, sometimes girls? He couldn't muddle through that in his head with all this pain right now. Vincent had said something about creams and bandages and he eyed him warily and said defensively "And needles. I fuckin hate needles."

Fiona returned quickly and looked for the closest exit before they were spotted "Boys....to the right. Walk casual like we have a spare."

Addison nods and heads for the teacher, asking questions and demanding a desperately detailed explanation and, if needed, asking for more. For a redhead, she could play the dumb blonde role to a T.

Vincent chuckles and looks at Fiona with a nod about his bag and coat, then looks back to Owen. "No needles with burns, man. Not unless its REALLY REALLY bad like half your body bad." he smiles. "Just think of something else. And forget about the pain."

Owen tries to think of other things as they walk to the ferry and get on. He replays a boss fight with the Joker in his head from the Lego Batman game but that doesn't take the edge off. He imagines taking the hill to the bottoms on his skateboard like he's been wanting to try but that just makes him anxious and in pain. Owen daydreams of pizza. Mmmm pizza.....gooey cheese and pepperoni. Ow, still there, dammit. He's running through every good thing he can think of in his head Rocky Road ice cream, surfing, Minecraft, running barefoot through the mud in the rain, girls. Girls? Addison brushing out her hair on his sister's bed at a sleepover, the family of many blonde giggly German sisters at the beach last spring, chasing him and splashing him, L smiling at him in Sigh even though Fiona was calling him burrito brain. She still smiled. She? Except she was he then....did the smile still count? It was still a smile. His brain hurt. His hand throbbed. Sebastian! Maybe Sebastian was alive and living a great life under someone's porch, free, happy and hairy like he was. He blew out a big breath.
